High Current Rating: Rated current from 100A to 250A on the WTM1-250, with the WTM1 series spanning 16A to 1250A for DC distribution. DC Voltage Coverage: DC operating voltage of 550V in 2P, 750V in 3P and up to 1500V
WTM1-250 4P DC MCCB. 250A rated, 4-pole. Overload/short circuit protection for DC circuits.
Feeder Breaker for an AC or DC Board?
Send the system voltage, continuous current and fault level. We reply within 24 hours with the frame, pole arrangement and isolation rating.
MOULDED CASE BREAKERS
MCCB Frames for AC and DC Feeders up to 250 A
An MCCB sits between a miniature breaker and an air circuit breaker. It handles feeder and mains currents, has a moulded case that contains the arc, and usually adds an isolation function so it can double as the disconnector for a board.
The WTCM1-250 covers AC distribution on a 250 A frame. The WTM1-250 is the DC version for 1500 V systems in two-pole and four-pole formats, used on battery storage and large solar arrays where a miniature breaker no longer has the breaking capacity.
MCCBs are chosen by three numbers: rated current, breaking capacity at the installation voltage, and the trip setting. Units carry CE and CCC marking.
MCCB Selection
Start with the frame, then the trip unit, then the breaking capacity at the actual system voltage. A frame rated for 400 V AC is not automatically suitable for 1500 V DC.

What to send
System voltage and type, AC or DC. The DC breaking capacity depends on the number of poles in series.
Continuous current and the cable size, so the trip setting can be matched.
Prospective fault current at the point of installation, so the breaking capacity is not exceeded.
Send those three numbers and we will confirm the frame and the pole arrangement within 24 hours.
FEEDER PROTECTION
Frame, Trip Unit and Breaking Capacity Are Three Different Things
The Frame Is Not the Rating
A 250 A case can hold a lower trip unit. The panel schedule has to state the rating, not the frame.
DC Needs Its Own Frame
A 400 V AC rating says nothing about a 1500 V DC feeder, where the arc behaves differently.
Isolation Is a Rating, Not a Label
The frame can double as a disconnector, but only at the isolation rating stated for it.
COMMON QUESTIONS
Frequently Asked Questions
An MCB is a miniature breaker for final circuits, normally up to 125 A. An MCCB uses a moulded case for higher currents, typically from 100 A upward, and usually adds an isolation function and a wider range of trip settings.
It is the maximum current the case is built to carry, not the rating of the breaker inside it. A 250 A frame can be fitted with a lower trip unit, so the same case serves several ratings on a panel schedule.
Where the frame has an isolation function, yes; it can be used to isolate the board for service. Confirm the isolation rating for your installation and the local rules before relying on it as the only means of isolation.
When the current or the system voltage exceeds what a miniature frame can break. The WTM7-63 covers up to 63 A at 1000 V DC in four poles; above that, the WTM1-250 frame handles DC feeders up to 1500 V.
Icu is the ultimate breaking capacity, after which the breaker may not be reusable. Ics is the service breaking capacity, after which it must still work. Specify Icu for safety and Ics for the duty you expect to keep operating after a fault.
