DC Surge Protection for Solar Arrays
The DC side of a solar installation is long, exposed and ungrounded on many systems, which makes it a good path for induced surges from nearby lightning. A DC surge device gives that surge somewhere to go before it reaches the inverter.
WTSP-D40 is fitted in the DC combiner or close to the inverter input, wired in parallel with the DC supply and mounted on DIN rail next to the string fuses and the DC breaker.
The array voltage governs the choice, and cold weather matters: open-circuit voltage rises as temperature falls, so the device rating has to cover the coldest morning the site will see, not the nominal string voltage. Units carry CE and CCC marking.
