DC Surge Protection Device SPD WTSP-D40 for 500V to 1000V PV Strings
The WTSP-D40 guards the DC side of a photovoltaic system, from the string in a combiner box through to the inverter input. One frame covers 500V, 690V, 800V and 1000V DC systems, so a single part number family serves rooftop, commercial and utility arrays without a different housing for each voltage class.
One Frame, Four Voltage Steps
Working voltage Uc matches the maximum open circuit voltage Uoc at each step, so the device is ordered as 500V, 690V, 800V or 1000V DC with no derating to apply. The 500V and 690V versions ship as two-pole devices and the 800V and 1000V versions as three-pole devices, which follows the higher string voltage and the extra pole needed to keep prospective voltage per pole inside the varistor rating.
Clamping Across the Range
Residual voltage rises with the voltage class, from 2.0kV at 500V DC to 2.5kV at 690V, 3.8kV at 800V and 5.3kV at 1000V. In and Imax stay at 20kA and 40kA on every variant, so the surge capacity does not change when a project moves to a longer string.
Leakage Current on a PV String
The Icpv figure is 20µA, which matters on a PV array because the monitoring or the insulation check on a string can pick up a leaky protector as a fault. A leakage this low keeps the device out of the way of string diagnostics during daylight hours.
Mounting and Status
The body clips to 35mm DIN rail and each pole carries a status window, so a spent cartridge is visible during a routine walk round the combiner box. Send your string voltage, pole requirement and quantity to WTAIELE for a quote.
