MC-12b Magnetic Contactor 12A for 5.5kW Motors at 380/400V
The MC-12b is a three-pole magnetic contactor for small motor and lighting circuits in low voltage panels. A 25A thermal frame carries 12A of AC-3 load at 380/400V, which covers the 5.5kW motor class used on pumps, fans and machine tools.
Small Frame, Four Voltage Ratings
AC-3 current is 13A at 220-240V, 12A at 380-400V and 500-550V, and 9A at 660-690V. Conventional thermal current is 25A, roughly double the AC-3 figure, so the same device also switches AC-1 loads such as heater banks and panel lighting.
Where 12A Is Enough
Motor rating runs from 3.5kW at 220-240V to 5.5kW at 380-400V and 7.5kW at 500-690V. Panels that start several small motors from one distribution board usually fit this frame next to a thermal overload relay, and the 25A thermal current leaves room for starting current that sits above the running load.
One NO and One NC on the Front Block
The auxiliary block carries one normally open and one normally closed contact, printed 43NO, 31NC, 32NC and 44NO, and rated 1.6A at 220-240V and 0.95A at 380-440V under AC-15 with 16A thermal current. That is enough for a hold-in circuit, a panel lamp or a signal back to the PLC, and extra side blocks can be fitted when a circuit needs more contacts.
Coil, Terminals and Panel Fit
The 220V AC coil works on 50Hz and 60Hz control supplies and suits panels where the coil circuit is tapped from the same 220V control bus as the pushbuttons and relays. Main terminals are marked R/1/L1, S/3/L2 and T/5/L3 on the line side and U/2/T1, V/4/T2 and W/6/T3 on the load side. Rated insulation voltage is 690V and mechanical life reaches 10 million operations, with DIN rail or screw fixing.
