WTC1-C 800V 2P DC Surge Protection Device for 800V PV Strings
The WTC1-C 800V 2P guards the DC side of a photovoltaic array on the 800V voltage class. Two modules sit on one base, one on DC+ and one on DC-, and the pair diverts a surge to the earth terminal at the foot of the body before it reaches the inverter.
Rated for 800V Continuous, 1060V Open Circuit
Maximum continuous voltage Uc is 800Vdc and rated voltage Un is 1060Vdc, so the device stays inert on a string that runs at 800V and still blocks at the open circuit voltage a cold morning can produce. In and Imax are 20kA and 40kA at 8/20µs on each pole.
Clamping at 3.8kV
Residual voltage is held at or below 3.8kV at the rated discharge current. On an 800V string that leaves margin against the impulse withstand of the inverter DC input, which is the number to check when the array is at the top of its voltage window.
Two Modules, One Earth Terminal
The base carries one plug-in module per polarity, so a spent cartridge is swapped without unwiring the string. Earth is a separate terminal on the body and should go to the panel PE bar on the shortest lead available, since lead length adds to the let-through voltage.
Type 2 Marking and Status Windows
Each module is marked Type 2 and carries a status window, so a routine walk round the combiner box shows whether protection is still live. The body is IP20 finger-safe, which suits an enclosure rather than an exposed outdoor position. Send your string voltage, pole count and quantity to WTAIELE for a quote.
