WTDS-32 DC Fuse 10x38mm for PV String Protection
The WTDS-32 is the fuse that goes in series with a photovoltaic string. It is a one pole holder on a DIN rail plus a 10x38mm cylindrical link, and the pair is what a combiner box needs for each string it collects.
A Holder and a Link
The holder carries the link and gives the string a terminal at each end, so the fuse can be changed without unwiring the cable. The link is a gPV type in the 10x38mm size, the fuse class used on the DC side of a PV system. Both halves are marked 1000V DC, and the holder is marked 32A, so the rating travels with the part that stays in the panel.
Current Steps From 1A to 32A
Links are stocked in fourteen steps between 1A and 32A. The rating is chosen from the string current rather than the array size, and the step above the string current is the usual choice, with the module cable checked against the same figure. A string of eight or ten modules on a rooftop run typically lands in the 10A to 16A range.
Fitting and Wiring
Terminals take 2.5 to 10mm² conductors. The holder is 18mm wide and 80mm high and deep, one module on a 35mm rail, closed to IP20. Working temperature is -30°C to +70°C at pollution degree 3, which covers an enclosure in an unheated plant room as well as a container on site.
Where It Goes
One holder per string is the usual arrangement in a combination box, with the link sized to the string and the output of the box taken to the inverter through the DC switch. The holder is also used behind a string that runs to a smaller enclosure where a combiner is not wanted. The body carries CE and CCC marking.
